Women in Africa is building its next flagship leadership programme and is inviting you to be part of it from the beginning.

Each cohort will bring together up to 10 exceptional African women to strengthen proven initiatives addressing a strategic challenge linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Our Ambition for 2027

The first cohort will focus on Climate and Energy, aligned primarily with SDG 13 – Climate Action.

We will select women already leading initiatives with demonstrated results and the potential to expand their impact—from renewable energy and sustainable agriculture to conservation, climate finance and community resilience.

Age will not define eligibility. Proven leadership, measurable results and potential for greater impact will.

When you become a contributor you become part of the founding community helping to bring this new programme to life. Throughout its development, WIA will share the progress being made, the challenges encountered and the milestones reached. You will understand what is being created, have opportunities to contribute your perspective and see what our collective involvement makes possible. Ultimately, you will meet the women selected for the first cohort and discover the work, ideas and ambitions they will bring to the programme. When their journey begins, they will carry with them the contribution of every person and organisation that helped create the opportunity.

The Programme

What the programme will offer

Delivered mainly online to make participation accessible across Africa, the programme aims to provide:

Leadership development and specialist knowledge
Mentoring from experienced leaders and technical experts
Connections to partners, institutions and potential funders
Visibility through WIA’s platforms and network
An individual roadmap with measurable impact objectives
Membership of an ongoing alumni community

The programme’s launch, scale and final format will depend on the funds raised and partnerships secured. Additional funding could unlock in-person workshops, a final gathering and WIA Impact Grants for selected initiatives.

Our approach is simple: identify what works, strengthen the women leading it, and help their solutions reach further.

What Your Contribution Will Make Possible

Your donation will fund a twelve-month programme for African women leading proven climate and energy solutions.
Participants will receive technical expertise, mentoring and access to partners to expand their initiatives. Depending on the funds raised, selected projects will also receive grants for equipment, technology or expansion into new locations.
We select women for their results and potential to scale, with no age limit.
The goal is concrete: bring reliable energy to more people and enable more communities to adapt to a changing climate.
